2:30AM eternal

We've been busy-beavering of late, playing the Apropos of Nothing CD release last Friday and also our regular night last night.

Last thing's first: our friend Andy (Group Five) was in town, and listening to his first MM set, so we played him a few of our favourites. Things didn't get too out of hand however, as my partner's sister was in attendance and I didn't want her to get the idea I was weirder than she already thought I was. Anyway, Andy seemed pretty amused, especially by the Robin of Sherwood theme with a chipper backbeat on top of it. Follyfoot seemed to offend him. In fact, I think he got angrier as the night went on.

As for the CD release, our set went well. The highlight was VJ Yetimon (aka our friend Hamish) syncing up visuals of the Flake Ad to our track Flakiest, and even anticipating our surprise Creme Egg coda by slotting that in too like some crazy visual foreshadowing. It was pure synaesthesia and strangely, deeply moving.

A little less fortunate happening was the three women who started dancing to our mix of the Goodnight Kiwi theme. Ok, that's fine in itself; it's just a shame the track was only 3 and a half minutes long, and only has a danceable beat for about three of those minutes. Talk about selling your audience short! We should really do a 12" mix.
